I am buying a house and looking for a loan. I put my information on Lowermybills.com and received multiple phone calls. The one that sounded the best to me was Earth Mortgage. They are at about 6.25 for a 5/1 arm interest only. This is above bankrate.com’s rate, but I still feel uncomfortable. They have all BBB licenses, my loan officer is licensed in the state of texas, and they have a special award from Lendingtree.com if you look them up on that website. Okay, let me clarify: I make a good living and have a stable job. I got myself into some credit trouble two years ago, and I’m working my way out of it, but unfortunately, my credit is still shot. Anyways, my rent is due on the 5th (Thursday) and I’m about $700 short. I’ve never been short on rent before, but I miscalculated on my end and long story short, I don’t have enough to pay rent. Borrowing from family or friends is not an option, and I was looking into payday loans but I’ve heard so many horror stories that I’m hesitant to get one of those. And before anyone suggests it, I can’t get a paycheck advance through my job (I asked) and I don’t have $700 worth of stuff that I could sell on Craigslist or eBay. First off I recently had to go to the emergency room and ultimately have surgery without insurance and ran up a 16000 dollar hospital bill.
